The Daniel Island Club is probably one of the nicest golf clubs in Charleston.

What makes it so special? For starters, its location is accessible to nearly all parts of Charleston in about 15 to 20 minutes. The Charleston International Airport is even closer.

What about the golf? Well, the club features two championship-level courses, one designed by Tom Fazio in 2000 and the other created by Rees Jones in 2006, which both play out of the same clubhouse. The Daniel Island Club is the only private entity in the United States to feature such a setup. The Beresford Creek course, which is the Fazio design, is one of the Top 40 residential greens in the country. Both courses are carved out of the breath-taking Lowcountry landscape with Spanish-moss-draped old-growth oaks and exquisite marsh views. The Ralston Creek course overlooks the tidal creek of the same name. There are also practice putting greens, a driving range and a short game practice course. The club also features a golf learning center and regulation bocce and croquet lawns.

And then there are the amenities. The Daniel Island Club offers plenty of amenities to match the grandeur of its two impressive courses. The 70,000 square foot clubhouse has everything members need, from separate locker rooms and a fully stocked pro shop to a pub, men’s lounge, formal dining room and family-style restaurant. The club’s additional fitness offerings include 11 tennis courts, two resort-style saltwater swimming pools and a 6,000 square foot state-of-the-art wellness center with a diverse selection of cardio equipment, massage rooms and steam-room-equipped locker rooms. All this can be found at the Park Club facility, just a short walk from the clubhouse.

The community surrounding the club is known as Daniel Island Park. It features gorgeous real estate, including some waterfront lots with deepwater access. Residents of the neighborhood enjoy access to the clubhouse and social events, as well as the Park Club if desired. An initiation deposit is required for golf privileges. Initiation deposits can be financed through a lender if desired. Five different types of membership are offered; here is a summary of each.

    Hey Rob,

I have clients moving here from FL, who are interested in either purchasing existing or building a home in the Island Park section of DI. She has asked me to find out more about the club memberships and such.

They do not golf, so don’t have to know about that part of the membership. They are used to the Country Club feel where they used primarily to be social. Being that they are moving here from FL and don’t know anyone, they want to use the service in this way.

If you could compile a list of fee’s that do not include anything golf, that would be great. She also wanted to know if there were minimum dining requirements?

Celena — thanks for the note. Unfortunately, the Daniel Island Club doesn’t allow you to purchase a social membership without buying a golf membership. You can, however, get a social membership from buying a house or a piece of land in Daniel Island Park.

If you want me to send you listing inside of Daniel Island Park, that you can share with your clients, please let me know. If you want to tour Daniel Island real estate, I am available, Mon-Sat for a tour.

Have a nice weekend – Bob
