Cute or Kooky: My Watermelon Pedicure
I’m not much of a nail art fan, but when a little salon just a few blocks from my apartment invited me in to try their new watermelon-inspired pedi (complete with green “rind” tips and little black “seed” dots), I figured I’d be a good sport and try it out in the name of beauty research. Take a look at the bright, fruity results:
So vibrant! So cheerful! So watermelon-y! I wasn’t sure about the whole thing at first, but they grew on me and now they make me smile every time I glance down.
The details: The art is an optional part of the Watermelon Pedicure at Eve Salon, which features a salt bath and moisturizing cream scented with the summer fruit for $39. If you’re into the look of it and want to try to do it yourself, here’s a close up:
It’s just a couple of coats of pink, a tiny strip of beige and a wider stripe of green at the tip and little black dots in a semi circle. You might be able to pull it off using regular brushes or cotton swabs if you have a steady hand, but I’d probably reach for those Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens I posted about awhile ago.
What do you think? Is it adorable? Tacky? Want to beg me to take it off right now? Kind of want to recreate it? Whatever you’re feeling, just speak up—my toes won’t take anything you say here personally, I promise.
