The Obama Ladies’ Hair Stole the Show at the White House State Dinner
We’re going to do our best to phrase this post in a way that’s proper and befitting of the First Lady of the United States of America, avoiding words like “sexy,” but it’s going to be difficult. Because for last night’s White House state dinner honoring Canada’s prime minister, Michelle Obama’s hair was looking worthy of the most glamorous celebrity red carpet. Dare we say her big, shoulder-sweeping waves and sideswept bangs were throwing off Brigitte Bardot bombshell vibes (bombshell’s appropriate here, right?)
We would say that our First Lady’s new hairstyle stole the show for the entire evening, except that both of her teenage daughters debuted gorgeous, grown-up new hair looks of their own—befitting their first appearance at a state dinner. Seventeen-year-old Malia Obama’s long hair was styled very Old Hollywood-meets-2016, sleek on top with a cascade of curled ends pushed in front of one shoulder. Sasha Obama, 14, went for a very on-trend center-parted double braid look, pulled into a bun in the back (accentuating the awesomeness of her almost-cat-eye liner and ’90s-style choker). We can’t believe the Obama sisters are old enough to be giving us hair goals, but it’s happening. Meanwhile, how lucky is President Obama to be surrounded in such female fabulousness?
