Everything You Need to Know About Miss USA 2015, Miss Oklahoma Olivia Jordan
After Donald Trump’s controversial comments about Mexicans led NBC to can the telecast of the 2015 Miss USA pageant and caused several of the show’s cohosts, judges, and performers to drop out, the show still went on last night for the 51 competing ladies in Baton Rouge, Louisiana (on the Reelz network instead). So who walked away with the 2015 crown? That honor went to Miss Oklahoma USA, Olivia Jordan—here’s everything we know about the newest pageant queen.
She’s the first winner from Oklahoma. The state came close to winning Miss USA in 1989 and 2010 (both were first runner-up), but 26-year-old Jordan, who hails from Tulsa, is the first to nab the title.
She’s no stranger to pageants. Jordan competed in the Miss California USA pageant in 2013, where she finished as first runner-up. She also competed at Miss World 2013, where she finished in the top 20.
And like every good pageant girl, she’s active in philanthropy. Jordan is an active member of Children of the Night, a group dedicated to getting children out of prostitution in the U.S., and the Alzheimer’s Association, which she helped raised $1.3 million for this year.
This isn’t her first step in the spotlight. In addition to pageants, Jordan has experience with both modeling and acting—she’s modeled for Cosmopolitan, Shape, and Vogue Japan and has appeared in the pilot for UnREAL, Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (as a bridesmaid), Jobs (as herself), and Ted (as a party guest).
She may be from Oklahoma, but she went East Coast for college. Jordan attended Boston University, where she received her degree in health science and worked as a fitness instructor and personal trainer.
Calling all sisters: She was also a member of BU’s chapter of Alpha Phi. She started their tradition of self-defense workshops.
She’s a mega-fan of Friends. Jordan says she’s seen every episode at least three times.
She’s got an adorable pup named Franklin. He’s got his own Instagram account (@4poundFranklin) and was adopted through Dogs Without Borders by Jordan and male model (and maybe boyfriend?!) Colin Owens.
