Calling all jewelry lovers: Have you heard of blue gold? It’s a thing, and it’s gorgeous
As part of my job, I see a lot of new products and launches and they all grab my attention at varying degrees of “Hey, look at me!” The one I got this week for blue gold left me totally stumped. Is this a thing that I’ve never heard of? Was every other woman around the world going out and considering her blue-gold options alongside yellow, white, and, of course, rose? A quick survey of people sitting around me (so, Sophia) confirmed that this really was that unheard-of.
The richly colored pieces are produced by Paris jeweler Maison Dauphin by a special process where 18-karat white gold is plated with something to create the inky hue. I pressed the publicist, curious fashion journalist that I am, and he told me that designer Charlotte Dauphin de La Rochefoucauld insists on keeping the exact process a secret, making it less likely we’ll see an explosion of blue gold any time soon.
The pieces are currently being sold on Colette’s website and will be available stateside in September at Bergdorf Goodman.
How do we feel? Love?
