Jennifer Lopez’s 10 Best Red Carpet Moments
Did you hear the news? Jennifer Lopez is Glamour‘s December cover star and one of our Women of the Year honorees! Once you’ve taken a good long look at her fabulous cover (and, oh I don’t know, picked up a replica of the outfit to wear this Friday night) grab a cafe latte, get comfy and consider these 10 epic red carpet moments from throughout Jennifer’s career. Smokin’, slammin’, f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s – there are a lot of words we can use to describe these looks. Come see…
Let’s start this off with one of the most epic red carpet moments in fashion history: the Versace dress Jennifer wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards. Want to know what she thinks of the look today? Check out Tracey’s Q&A with the star.
Fast forward to 2011 and, while not as revealing, the Pucci dress she wore to the BAFTA Awards caught everyone’s attention. This look is quintessential Jen: body-conscious and daring with an a-symmetrical neckline and a little bit of glitz.
We called the bright gold Marchesa dress Jennifer wore to the 2009 Golden Globes one of the best dresses in the award show’s history. It was just that stunning.
Who can forget this Michael Kors grecian number from the 2004 Golden Globes? With a reference point like that, it’s no wonder Kors worked that eponymous dress back into his collection 6 years later.
Leave it to Jennifer Lopez to show up on the red carpet just weeks before giving birth to twins, looking fabulous and wearing Versace. She’s worn a lot of white dresses on the red carpet over the years but this was an unforgettable moment.
One time Jennifer Lopez wore a bright gold Rodarte dress to the White House. And her legs looked ah-may-zing. Perhaps the moment wasn’t automatically seared in the American consciousness but, to a fashion girl, it was quite memorable.
Jen doesn’t normally do big ball gowns but she made an exception for Zuhair Murad at the 2010 Met Gala and boy, did it pay off. While I’m sure none of us would want her to lose her body-con ways, this was such a pretty, out-of-the-box red carpet moment for the star.
Yes, the Biba ensemble Jennifer wore to the 2006 MTV Movie Awards was a wee bit controversial. But style icons aren’t made on bandage dresses and towering Louboutins alone. Jennifer still rocks an over-the-knee boot on the regular and I think we’re all glad she pursued that trend.
Oh, the ’90s. Before American Idol. Before spray tans. J-Lo makes the era look positively throwback-worthy in this spaghetti strap (remember that expression?) dress and dark lipstick at the 1998 CFDA awards.
And last but not least, the over-the-top magenta Gucci dress Jennifer wore to the 2011 Met Gala. With her slicked-back hair and flawless makeup this look instantly became one for the archives.
