Would You Rather: Drink the New Salty Watermelon Pepsi or Eat a 28-Pound Sandwich?
Crazy question, right? Not really–they both exist!
The flavors of foods that people enjoy around the world is always so amazing (soft-shell crab Pringles, anyone?) and this new soda flavor from Pepsi Japan is no exception. It’s Salty Watermelon, which might seem a little strange to some of us–but it’s actually not that weird, considering salt is often added to melon in order to coax out the juicy sweetness. Also, it’s not like we Americans don’t have our own bizarro flavors–remember the bacon milkshake?
OK, now feast your eyes on this monstrosity:

That, my friends, is a 28-pound sandwich. See that little teensy thing in the lower left corner? That’s the size of a regular sandwich. Eek! British chef Tristan Welch created the sandwich for the UK debut of Man “Versus Food,” and I can’t even list all of the types of meats in this thing because the massive amount of text would probably overflow onto Save the Date. But here are just a few of the ingredients: roast beef, boiled ham, honey-roast ham, bacon, pancetta, Mortadella, venison, chorizo, garlic salami, Italian salami, gherkins, beetroot. (I love that the instructions suggest to “finish off with a salad garnish”–yes, a little bit of lettuce should do the trick in balancing out all that salty meat!)
If you had to pick right this minute, which would you choose: guzzling a Salty Watermelon Pepsi or choking down that sandwich (or at least some of it)?
