Stephen Colbert’s Lifestyle Brand: How to Look Like “the Great Gatsby Threw Up on You”
Move over, Gwyneth Paltrow, Blake Lively, Ellen DeGeneres, and Reese Witherspoon—there’s a new celebrity lifestyle brand on the market.
On last night’s episode of The Late Show, Stephen Colbert poked fun at celebrities who refer to themselves as “brands”—and announced the launch of his very own line of silly, overpriced lifestyle products. It’s called: Covetton House.
“I’m launching my own personal, curate-able lifestyle brand tonight,” Colbert says, while sipping on a Parmesan-and-absinthe hot beverage (ew). Covetton House will “mean more than looking like the Great Gatsby threw up on you… [it’s imbued with] classic Southern living, the breezy charm of the English countryside, and whatever they had left over at the prop warehouse.”
The brand’s motto: “Waaaaaant.“
And as for his motivation, Colbert explained: “My real passion, ever since I was a child, was being a brand. That’s why every time my parents said my name, I’d sue them for trademark infringement.”
