Confession: After the hats, our second-favorite part of the Kentucky Derby is a well-appointed cocktail. (Sorry, horses running in circles.) If you and your hat are hosting a Derby party this weekend, here’s a mint julep recipe, courtesy of our friends at Minibar, to commit to memory. Serves 1


Mint leaves, plus more for garnish

1 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon water

2 ounces bourbon

Directions: Lightly muddle a few mint leaves with sugar and water in a julep cup. Fill cup with crushed ice and add bourbon. Garnish with mint and enjoy.
