Glamour’s Great Big Bridesmaid Dress Try-On-A-Thon
I was so curious about Two Birds bridesmaid dresses. In case you’re not familiar with them, they’re one of the more popular lines of one-size-fits-most convertible dresses (tie it over 15 different ways!) Check out how the Two Birds dress fits some of our brave staffers, after the jump.
The Two Birds dress is sold in two sizes, one for women 0-14 and another for 16-24. The dress comes in one body style with four different hemlines: short straight, short butterfly, ballgown and long flutter. It’s available in a ton of great colors from eggplant to pink—PS. The color shown here is their bestseller and my personal favorite, “ocean” blue.
When I contacted Two Birds about the Glamour try-on, they kindly sent Erica from their office to wrap the dress onto our volunteers. The cool part is the line actually offers this same service, for a small fee, to actual wedding parties, so you can have a professional “wrapper” style your ‘maids before the ceremony.
Now, check out our bridesmaid dress “toga party”—which wrap do you like best?
Kim (left), who’s a slim size 0, tried the wrap style known as one-shoulder Grecian twist and I think it’s totally pretty on her. Meanwhile, our super-dooper petite—she’s only 4’11″—web assistant, Meredith (right) slipped into the fancy front neck twist wrap. By the way, I included both of these ladies’ back shots because I thought they were so cool!
Jessica (far left), showed off her teensy waist and feminine curves in a sweetheart strapless (a great option if you want to wear a strapless bra) while intern Jamie (second from left), accentuated her tall stature in a ballgown length Grecian twist wrap. Taryn (second from right) is a size 12 who was looking for a bit of upper arm coverage; she opted for the cap-sleeve shoulder. Elizabeth, our style writing intern (far right) modeled the tricky front halter. Go Elizabeth!
Editorial assistants Devin (left) and Laura (right) both went full-length: Devin in a halter with a knotted back and Laura with a more casual, funky tank style with cap sleeves. Don’t they both look great?
Bernadette, a size 4, looked gorgeous in the Grecian twist with long flutter hem, while our very own Engagement Chick opted for an open back version.
Anne (far left) our web editorial director (and a self-professed semi-professional bridesmaid), wanted some extra support in the bust. Here she is far left in a halter wrap worn over the bandeau, which is basically a stretchy, supportive tube-top in the same color and fabric as the dress. Anne is 5’3″ and a size 10. I think she looks way taller in the long dress—nice! Also trying a long wrap is Kaitlin (second from left), who rocks the straight-across strapless without looking pancake-ish. Rachel (second from right) is wearing the buckle waist halter while Jen, size 12, does the knotted cap sleeve *with *bandeau.
Tall and slender art intern Magda (left) looked fab in the Grecian twist while Joanna, photo assistant, did a one-shoulder but use the bandeau for some extra coverage around the side and back. Size 10, Jennifer was seriously amazing in the short and straight wrap with a full-coverage sleeve (a bit more modest), while I—the pregnant volunteer (far right)—went strapless sweetheart. I have to say, I felt pretty cute and not at all frumpy!
Our last group of volunteers were all stunners. Mackie (far left) wore a halter while Betty (second from left) did the Grecian twist and Amber tried a flirty, off-the-shoulder variation. Finally, Kara (far right) showed off her 5’9″ frame in a sexy cap sleeve tank tie. Phew!
So, what do you make of all these wraps? And which do you like best? After witnessing the genius versatility of this dress, I’m definitely a fan and I’ll be featuring some similar brands in later posts so keep checking back.
